Limber up for another Bimber
Tristan
A few months before the Amateur Dramaddicts came together two of the team went out for a whisky day in London. This was early 2020 (yes, that year) and the day started with a tour of the Bimber distillery. Tristan and Matt loved their time looking around and enjoyed the whisky on offer just as much. Very quickly they both became Klub members and enjoyed the initial releases. However, can there ever be too much of a good thing ?
The distillery was founded in 2015 and their first whisky release came in 2019. Quickly their name grew with clever marketing but, more importantly, a passionate and knowledgeable team. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t get the audience that Bimber has without being ruddy good at what you produce.
Let’s talk a distillery exclusive.
Nose
Fresh summer fruits find strawberries and raspberries as the welcome party for the nose with a dry white wine lingering in the background
Palette
There’s a lovely fizz to this. Fruits, especially cherry, is prominent with every sip.
Finish
Fresh. Summery. Wonderful light fruits and it leaves a smile on the face.
Overall
Tristan tried this at the fantastic Melody Whisky Bar in October 2021. There is so much to like about this bottle but he couldn’t help but feel that there was room for a little bit more depth to the flavour. It may well be the choice of cask, or it may have been what else Tristan had eaten or drunk that day, but this dram just didn’t excite him like other Bimber expressions.
