When tasting it’s not always about the destination, sometimes it’s all about the Journey
Tristan
Sailor’s Home are a distillery based near Limerick.
Where their whiskey batches are limited.
They’re big on inclusion.
Their expressions are cask fusions
And strangers are friends you haven’t met yet.
Nose
Honey and butterscotch bring the nose to life and then give way to green peppers and dark rum.
Palette
Apples and sandlewood make way for a bit of a varnish taste that then marries up with the sweetness of a rum cask.
Finish
Bananas. All, day, long. This finish is warming with a touch of sweetness.
Overall
Tristan tried this as part of our blind tasting in September 2021. He noted that the sweetness of the rum cask may be a little overpowering for some as it brings all of the fruit notes to the front of the mouth. But he really enjoyed this. And we mean he really enjoyed it, so much so that it reached a rather high score.
